OUR FOUNDER
Bruce was born in Flint, Michigan and was a
resident of Grand Blanc and the Flint area all of his life. He married
Virginia Cooper on December 23, 1942 in Gulfport, Mississippi. Bruce G.
Pollock graduated from Flint Central in 1940. He attended Northwestern
University and University of Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army Air
Corps from 1942 to 1946. In 1948, Mr. Pollock entered the Real Estate
profession. His firm Hachtel-Pollock Realtors moved from Flint to Grand
Blanc in 1972, when the firm's name became Bruce G. Pollock &
Associates, Inc.
During his esteemed career, Mr. Pollock developed many subdivisions and
commercial properties in Flint and Genesee County. In addition, he
developed oceanfront condominiums in Singer Island, Florida. He was the
president of the Flint Association of Home Builders in 1953. In 1964 he
served as president of the Flint Board of Realtors. He was president of
the Institute of Real Estate Management, Chapter #5 in 1979. He served
as an elected trustee on the Grand Blanc Township Board from 1964 to
1972, and subsequently served on the Planning Commission and Board of
Review. He was a charter member of Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club
and was elected club president in 1964 and 1972. Additionally, he served
as tournament director of the 1961 Buick Open.
In
the 1970's, Mr. Pollock was one of the founders of First Security Bank
of Grand Blanc and later served on the board of Old Kent Bank-Central.
More recently he served on the Board of Directors of the Flint Chamber
of Commerce and Grand Blanc Chamber of Commerce, as well as served as
director on the Board of the Genesee County Economic Growth Corporation.
In 2002 he was honored by being awarded "Citizen of the Year" by the
Grand Blanc Chamber of Commerce. His clients included; General Motors,
Mead Corporation, McDonalds Corporation, Genesys Health Systems, King
Steel Corporation, Marathon Oil Corporation, and
Ford Motor Company.
He
will be greatly missed by his family, friends and colleagues. |
